OITL Song Of The Day #7: Joanna Newsom "'81"

Singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom has a lot of really passionate fans... And a lot of really passionate haters. A lot of this stems from her very peculiar voice as she's received pretty much universal critical acclaim for her instrumentation and art. You can imagine the uproar from all sides when she announced the long-awaited and much anticipated follow-up to her 2006 sophomore effort Ys would be a triple album entitled Have One On Me. So that's three times the excitement/anguish depending on who you are. I myself enjoy Ms. Newsom although I prefer her in shorter bursts of energy like the selections from her debut album The Milk-Eyed Mender. Still, I'm looking forward to the February 23rd release of new latest album via Drag City.
